A New Venture...A New Blog

It has been quite a while since I sat down and wrote. After a season of feeling mentally, physically and emotionally drained...I am finally feeling the nudge to get back to it once more. I am not sure yet what I want this blog to be about or if it will just be a random conglobulation of ramblings but I am excited to share my heart and thoughts with you, friends.

I suppose it would help to reintroduce myself a little bit. My name is Lindsay and I am happily married to my husband. We live in a cozy little home with our three cats: Esmeralda, Uhtred, and Bruce Wayne. I am a DEEP lover of Jesus, Catholicism & liturgy, my Jewish roots, iced coffee, autumn, books and spending time with those who matter most to me. I used to work in veterinary medicine with a special focus in End of Life care.  I had the opportunity to work as the hospital's compassion care coordinator and it was a blessing to be able to really support clients and their pets during one of the most difficult  chapters of their journey together. Recently however I returned to school full time (online) to obtain my degree in American Sign Language. (ASL) . It is something I have always loved and wanted to study, but never was able to until recently thanks to God's goodness and the support of my dear husband. It is my desire to be able to better serve others and maybe even incorporating end of life care into it somehow. At the end of the day though, I will just be glad to serve where ever the Lord leads me and places me.

I found my passion for ASL early in life. There of course was the simple signs we learned along with songs in Sunday school as a younger kid which I thought was just the coolest thing. Once I got to middle school, I remember learning ASL to a Chris Tomlin song. It was not until I was attending HCC for college that I got to take ASL 1. My teacher for the majority of the semester was deaf and it was a completely immersive experience as we hardly used our spoken voices. Even after he left, the teacher that took his place was hearing yet still kept it as immersive as possible and that went a long way. I don't think I would have learned what I know as well as I did without those teachers. I am forever grateful for them. With learning ASL in college, my true love and desire to learn ASL only deepened. I never thought I would ever had the chance to study it and yet here I am, five weeks into my fall semester.  It has certainly been a challenge to return to school after 7ish years, but it has been a good one and I can't wait to see what lies ahead.

So thank you, friends, for being here and taking time to read this.
